Time can fly when you are having fun. It can also fly when you're not having fun, and as you get older, you come to find that though the days can feel long, the year will pass you by in a flash. Many people think this way, and I know I was subject to this experience in the last month. If you follow Controversial Curiosities closely, you'll know that there has been a hiatus to the previously established rotation of content that I had detailed I would provide. First, I want to apologize for the radio silence. I am grateful to anyone who decides to read this blog or listen to the companion podcast episodes. By no means did I intend to fall short on providing content regularly. I am glad to announce that Controversial Curiosities is not going away, yet I am making some slight changes to the way things get done for now.
The changes that I intend to make are not going to change the nature of the content itself. I still plan on writing and podcasting on subjects that I find vital to discuss, many of which will find themselves on the side of being controversial. What will change is the frequency of the content that gets provided. July proved to be a tricky month that challenged me to rethink the logistics of upholding my previous rate of posts and podcasts. One of July's obstacles, when it came to creating content, was that I was on vacation in a remote area of the Apache – Sitgreaves National Forest. As many can probably expect, there was not quite the strongest internet connection in the cabin we stayed in, let alone was the purpose of me hauling myself and my family to this cabin to crank out content. You may be thinking, taking a vacation is fine, but why didn't you prepare content before your departure? The answer to this question is why I said the vacation was only part of July's obstacles. The other obstacle presented was that I was offered a new role within my current full-time employer.
As just a regular schmuck, I still have bills to pay and a family to support, and with that comes the need to generate sustainable income for myself. As much as I love doing the work I do for this Substack, I will by no means pretend there is a sustainable income created here. While I intend to make writing and podcasting a more constant feature of my life, in the meantime, I do have to ensure I put a 100% into acclimating into my new role. While this doesn't mean a complete stop to the writing and podcasting that I do here, it does mean a change in the frequency of blog posts and podcasts. Starting this month, I will begin my creative works again and start posting blogs and podcasts biweekly. Within this new model, I plan to release a blog or podcast each Friday. Today's post will constitute the first of these blog posts, and next Friday will be the first podcast posted within this new cycle. I don't intend this to be permanent, but I intend this to be the case for at least a couple of months while I adjust to the change within my life. Since this new rotation will be providing you a drastically reduced amount of content, I will be making all the content free. I will leave the ability to subscribe for a paid subscription available. If you feel gracious enough to support the efforts here at Controversial Curiosities, that is a great way to donate to the cause. As time presses on, I will become more accustomed to my new responsibilities and plan on ramping up the number of blog posts and podcast episodes. Eventually, I will start putting some behind the paywall (some controversies are worth it). For now, I want to thank you all for your patience during my hiatus. For those I lost, I hope to get you back. For those I kept, I want to thank you for having faith, and for those who are unaware or don't care, I hope to draw you in one day.
